A supervised injection site is a place for adult drug users.
It gives the option to consume narcotics in better hygiene and safety conditions to people in a vulnerable situation and whose lifestyle and consumption give rise to urban gatherings called ‘ consumption scenes ’.
It responds to a dual objective :
- public health, by reducing HIV/AIDS and hepatitis infections, risks of overdoses and public consumption;
- public order, by reducing nuisances associated with drug use in an urban setting and helping to improve community life in the district.
